About me

As a registered Clinical Psychologist (HPCSA registration number: PS 0131431), I provide clinical assessment and psychotherapy to children (in the form of play therapy), adolescents, adults and couples.

My practice is primarily grounded within an integrative Psychodynamic framework, which means that therapy will not only focus on the reduction of symptoms but also on a deeper self-understanding as to why the particular symptoms might have developed.  I regard the strength and safety of the therapeutic relationship as extremely important as it is within this relationship that personal growth and change will occur. I also use other evidence based psychotherapies, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), according to the needs of each individual.

I have completed my formal academic training at Stellenbosch University where I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work, BA (Honours) Psychology, MA (Psychology) and MA (Clinical Psychology & Community Counselling) degrees.

My clinical internship was completed at Fort England Psychiatric Hospital in Grahamstown, and my community service year was completed at the Department of Corrections in the Southern Cape.   My formal DBT and Schema Therapy training was completed in New Zealand, where I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist for the New Zealand Department of Corrections for two years.
